Tucked away in the charming Chesterbrook neighborhood of McLean, Vinson Hall is more than just a senior residential community—it’s a vibrant haven of service, leadership, and legacy.

For over 55 years, Vinson Hall has welcomed generations of military officers, government leaders, and their families. While originally designed for military and federal service members, today, eligibility is open to all, and the community remains a non-profit supported by the Navy Marine Coast Guard Residence Foundation.

Though their backgrounds may vary, the residents of Vinson Hall share one thing: a lifelong commitment to service—not only to their country, but to their neighbors and the greater McLean community.

🤝 Active Community Engagement

At Vinson Hall, retirement doesn’t mean slowing down—it means giving back.

• 🏫 Veterans in the Classroom: Each year, residents visit Chesterbrook Elementary on Veterans Day to speak about their experiences and what it means to serve.
• 🌍 Earth Day Leadership: Students from The Potomac School partner with residents on Earth Day projects, learning the value of hands-on environmental stewardship.

🧭Mentors & Role Models

With many residents being Eagle Scouts, military leaders, and lifelong mentors, it’s no surprise that they stay actively involved in youth development:

• Teaching knife skills and designing Pinewood Derby cars with local Cub Scouts
• Mentoring future Eagle Scouts
• Sharing their stories to inspire the next generation of leaders

💜 Giving Back, Year-Round

Vinson Hall residents are deeply committed to supporting local and national causes, including:

• Holiday donation drives benefiting elderly clients of SHARE of McLean
• Campus and national walks supporting the Alzheimer’s Association
• Clinical training programs for local nursing students, providing hands-on experience in a compassionate environment
