Naureen and Naveed Rahman, founders of The Rahman Foundation (in honor of their late parents, Dr. Aquilur and Rukhsana Rahman), joined forces with the Orphaned Starfish Foundation (OSF) and hosted the Inaugural D.C. Gala on Saturday, February 1st, 2025. OSF began operations in 2001,
led by founder Andy Stein. New York Wall Street banker turned savior, Andy has brought countless technology-based education, job training, and job placement programs to orphans, victims of abuse, survivors of trafficking, indigenous children, at-risk youth, and refugees. The Rahman Foundation opened their family estate one last time in Potomac, Maryland, to greet over 150 of the most prominent guests across the DMV to share in their quest to protect vulnerable children. With special performances from the “Elphaba” of Broadway’s “Wicked” and “Jagged Little Pill” shows, Laurel Harris, guest appearances from Gold Olympic medalists Thea LaFond, art installations from “If These Walls Could Talk” by artist Justin Garcia, guests enjoyed a memorable evening with a dinner spread by the local Bamian Restaurant and danced to the tunes spun by DJ Vishal Dwivedi (aka DJ Vicious).

Earlier last year, the Rahman Foundation opened the technology center for OSF in Cambodia, hosted the first-ever gala in Miami, Florida, at Mr. C’s Coconut Grove, and participated in the yearly New York City Grand Gala at Cipriani’s Wall Street. Stay tuned for upcoming events. (Special thanks to Hilda Olafsson from Wanderlust Spirits and Sanaz Mizrahi from Design by Sanaz).
