By MARIENNE BANE

As May draws to a close and the school year wraps up, a familiar buzz fills the air—graduation season has arrived. Across our McLean community, hundreds of bright young seniors are preparing to take their next big step into the world. Whether heading off to college, taking a gap year, or exploring other exciting paths, this is a season of fresh starts and bold new beginnings. Many of us can still recall those feelings of anticipation, excitement, and maybe even a few nerves. It may have been a while ago (we won’t say how long!), but the thrill of stepping into the unknown never gets old. To all our graduating seniors: Carpe diem—seize the day! While some are just starting to map out their journeys beyond high school, we wanted to highlight two young women from our community who are already a few steps ahead. Emily and Mary, both proud McLean natives, are graduating from college in 2025 and stepping confidently into their professional lives. Whether you’re looking for inspiration or simply want to meet a couple of remarkable neighbors, read on to learn more about Emily Siryani and Mary Nazarian—and join us in celebrating the entire Class of 2025. We’re proud of you all!

Emily Siryani: Rooted in McLean, Ready to Make Her Mark

One of those outstanding seniors we’re proud to spotlight is Emily Siryani, a driven and accomplished graduate who recently earned her degree from the College of Charleston. Emily completed her Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Real Estate and a minor in Project Management—a perfect reflection of her focus and passion for the business world. During her college years, Emily didn’t just hit the books—she dove headfirst into campus life, joining organizations like the Entrepreneurship Club, Women in Business, and the Finance Club. These opportunities broadened her perspective and helped her build a strong foundation of knowledge, leadership, and community. Emily’s upbringing in McLean played an equally important role in her journey. Surrounded by a community that values excellence, and just a stone’s throw from the nation’s capital, she was inspired early on to dream big and pursue her ambitions with purpose. Now, Emily is embarking on her next chapter, launching her
real estate career in Reston, Virginia. With a strong academic background, a supportive hometown, and a heart full of ambition, Emily is well on her way to becoming a rising star in the industry.

Mary Nazarian: Creating Spaces That Inspire Mary Nazarian, a recent graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University, earned her BFA in Interior Design with a double minor in General Business and Art History. A McLean native with a lifelong passion for design, Mary is driven by how spaces can shape comfort, clarity, and connection. At VCU, she served as senior class representative for the American Society of Interior Designers, building bridges between students and industry professionals. A summer spent studying in Florence, Italy, deepened her appreciationfor global design and classical architecture. Now back in Northern Virginia, Mary is preparing to take the LEED Green Associate and NCIDQ exams, with plans to pursue graduate studies in architecture. She hopes to contribute to projects that blend beauty with purpose—creating spaces that help people feel seen, supported, and at home.
