McLean, VA (August 28, 2023) Book lovers will soon have an independent bookstore in McLean, VA. Fonts Books & Gifts will open in the Chesterbrook Plaza at 6262B Old Dominion Drive (next to TD Bank) this fall.

Fonts Books & Gifts will offer new books for all ages, as well as unique gifts, greeting cards, journaling supplies, candles, stickers, “dry” spirits and non-alcoholic beer, and more. The store is being opened by Amber Taylor who spent nearly four years learning the business as events manager and bookseller at Arlington’s One More Page Books.

“One of my favorite things about local bookstores is the community they nurture. Customers and booksellers develop long relationships, driven by a shared love of books and stories. They help each other explore unknown worlds and topics. And, there is always something new coming in the door,” said Taylor, Fonts Books & Gifts Owner. “I’m thrilled to bring this to McLean.”

Fonts will host author events and book signings, as well as other events like book club meetings, journaling classes, comedy nights, and more. The store will also have an outdoor reading area behind the building.

“Books have always been an important part of my life and that of my family. My aunts and cousins were in the business as librarians and publishers, and so many more are and were readers. The importance of books and stories has just always been part of me,” said Taylor. “I am thrilled to now be a member of the independent bookstore community, especially at a time when it is more important than ever to support diverse and creative voices.”

Originally from Ohio, Taylor has lived in Arlington for 25 years and in the neighborhood bordering McLean for 10 years. Her daughter attended the Montessori School of McLean, which happens to be directly behind the new storefront.

“I have been watching the revitalization of the Chesterbrook Shopping Center with excitement, and look forward to now being part of it,” Taylor added. “In my previous work, I offered communications support to ‘buy local’ campaigns and learned so much about how local businesses are vital to thriving communities. Supporting the growth and vitality of our community is a part of the foundation of Fonts Books.”

As it becomes a part of the McLean community, Fonts also looks forward to offering fundraising evenings for local schools, nonprofits, and other community organizations.
