The 10th Luke’s Wings
On Saturday, May 18th, the prestigious Waldorf Astoria in Washington, DC, played host to an unforgettable evening as Luke’s Wings held its 10th Heroes Gala. This remarkable event, dedicated to celebrating the organization’s mission, brought together an inspiring mix of heroes, supporters, and special guests to honor the incredible sacrifices made by our Nation’s service members, Veterans, and first responders.
Luke’s Wings, a nonprofit organization committed to providing complimentary flights to wounded, ill, and injured service members, Veterans, first responders, and their families during their recovery and rehabilitation in US military hospitals, has made significant strides in supporting those who have given so much for our country. The Heroes Gala served as a testament to their unwavering dedication and impactful work.
The evening was skillfully guided by two exceptional emcees, Jacqueline Matter and Johnny Joey Jones, whose dynamic presence set the tone for the night. Special guests included Miss America 2024, Madison Marsh, an active-duty Air Force Officer and the first-ever service member to hold the Miss America title; singing action painter Joe Everson; and the American tenor Issachah Savage. Their contributions added a unique flair to the event, making it a night to remember. A significant highlight of the evening was the overwhelming generosity of the donors, who helped raise over $500,000 for Luke’s Wings.
For those inspired by the evening’s events and interested in supporting Luke’s Wings, there are numerous ways to get involved. Tickets for future events can be purchased, and volunteers are always welcome. More information can be found at lukeswings.org.
