VINSON HALL VETERANS COMMEMORATE VETERAN’S DAY
BY INSPIRING STUDENTS AT CHESTERBROOK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
At Vinson Hall Retirement Community, our residents share service-driven backgrounds in the military or federal service and, even in retirement, are eager to give back to the broader community. To commemorate Veteran’s Day, as we have done in the past, VHRC veterans visited our next-door neighbor, Chesterbrook Elementary School, to meet with 4th, 5th and 6th grade classrooms and share their military experiences. On Friday, November 10, eight veterans spoke to students who were riveted by their stories and peppered them with questions. One resident explained what inspired him to join the Marines: “I liked it because of the challenge, physically and mentally. I stayed in the Marines because of the comradery. You develop relationships that last your lifetime.” At Vinson Hall Retirement Community we are passionate about helping seniors live their lives to the fullest, and love connecting them with our community partners.
