Glamour, Giving & the Art of Fine Living

Before diving into the details of the much-anticipated gala, it’s worth pausing to introduce Barbouzard—a true French-Mediterranean escape in the heart of Washington, D.C. Conceived by longtime friends Nasr El Hage, Nellie Elana Gebrail, and Dany Abi-Najm, the restaurant was born from their vision of recreating the Mediterranean lifestyle they know so well: evenings that linger with laughter, tables brimming with flavor, and an atmosphere infused with romance, mystery, and delight.

At the helm is Executive Chef and Partner Cedric Maupillier, whose artistry marries the finest Mediterranean ingredients with French culinary tradition and subtle global influences. His menus honor the elegance of fine dining while embracing the soulful warmth of shared meals—ranging from caviar-topped indulgences to comforting creations inspired by his Provençal roots.

Yet Barbouzard is more than a restaurant; it is an experience. With its elevated lounge, sensuous music, and aura of exclusivity, Barbouzard seamlessly blends luxury and warmth, creating a setting where every detail is designed to enchant. Whether over a leisurely lunch, a golden-hour cocktail, or an evening that stretches into the night, Barbouzard invites guests to celebrate life’s most cherished moments in unforgettable style.

On Friday, September 19th, Barbouzard Restaurant transformed into a scene straight out of the French Riviera.

The evening, aptly titled Riviera Royale, was a dazzling Monte Carlo–inspired affair where glamour, intrigue, and philanthropy seamlessly intertwined. From the moment guests arrived, the atmosphere was electric—flowing champagne, elegant casino tables, and a whisper of secret-agent mystery set the stage for a night destined to be remembered.

Attendees, many of the area’s most distinguished community leaders, stepped into a world of cosmopolitan elegance. The ladies, radiant in couture gowns, shimmered even brighter with exquisite diamonds courtesy of Helvetia Jewelry, lending an added sparkle to an already luminous evening.

The culinary journey was nothing short of extraordinary. Acclaimed chef Cedric Maupillier orchestrated a five-course masterpiece that transported guests through the flavors of France. Highlights included caviar-topped tartelettes, truffle-stuffed gougères, and a delicate Dover sole finished with a luxurious caviar beurre blanc—all paired with exceptional French wines that elevated the artistry of each dish.

Yet beyond the glamour and indulgence, Riviera Royale carried a deeper purpose. Presented in partnership with the International Museum in Washington, D.C., the gala supported the Children’s National Hospital Foundation. The fusion of fine dining, dazzling fashion, and meaningful giving created an evening that celebrated both joie de vivre and the power of community generosity.

The event drew such acclaim that it even caught the attention of The Washington Post, which highlighted the evening’s sophisticated blend of high style and heartfelt philanthropy.

In every detail—from the refined tablescapes to the sparkling laughter that filled the room—Barbouzard’s Riviera Royale was a true escape to the French Riviera, right in the heart of the capital region. A night where luxury met legacy, and every toast lifted the spirit of giving a little higher.
